modern [mod-ern] adj.: characteristic of present and recent time; contemporary; not antiquated or obsolete. Characterized by or using the most up-to-date techniques, ideas, or equipment. This is the literal definition, and yet “modern” as it applies to design is very hard to truly define. Much of modern design comes from bygone eras, yet true to its definition it is “characteristic of the present” and in no way obsolete. Modern is about using new techniques and materials, no matter when those advancements took place. For us, it is about form and function, thoughtful design which maximizes purpose, and beautiful lines. Modern is a word that can belong within any style.
